Email marketing metrics 101 before we jump into learning ctor, let's take a look at some of the most common email company mailing list marketing kpis used by marketers. Most likely, you are already at least looking at these stats, if you don't live and breathe them. A little reminder :email open rate email open rate is the percentage of people who opened an email campaign. If you send mail to a list of 750 people and 180 of them opened, your open rate would be 24%: a good average. Of course, many things influence your open rate, but a healthy open rate is usually between 20 and 40%. Click-through rate click-through rate is the percentage of people who clicked on a linked link or image in an email. To continue our example from before, if you have a list of 750 people and 100 link clicks,


    You have a click-through rate of about 14%. Much like the open rate, this number will depend on the number of links you include in your email and the strength of the email content. Now that we've gone over open and click-through rates, let's talk about ctor. What is ctor? The metric that marketers aren't as familiar with is click-to-open rate (ctor), which basically measures the effectiveness of your email content. This metric is calculated by the number of unique clicks divided by the number of unique opens. Using our current example, 100 clicks / 180 opens (multiplied by 100 for a percentage) = 55%.
